Employer’s Perspective:

Greenspring Pediatric Associates serves a patient population with historically low breastfeeding rates. We do not accept this as a ‘given’. From prenatal visits, to hospital visits after delivery, to office visits, our providers and staff encourage and support our families. We let them know that we want this to succeed and we will be there for them. We make follow-up calls and schedule frequent office visits in the first few weeks. The lactation consultants at Sinai Hospital, which adjoins us, make themselves available as well. Breastfeeding rates are still not where they should be, but they are improving. In addition, as the outpatient teaching facility for Sinai’s pediatric residents, we are training the next generation of pediatricians to be comfortable with working with breastfeeding families.
