President
Dana Silver, MD, FAAP, FABM
Dana Silver, MD, FAAP, FABM - Dana is a general pediatrician. She is head of the Division of General Pediatrics at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, where she loves caring for patients and teaching pediatric residents and medical students about breastfeeding. She was one of the founding members in 2010 of MBC and has served a variety of roles over the years, currently serving as Secretary. Among many MBC activities, she has been the coordinator of the DC/Maryland Breastfeeding-Friendly Awards since 2010. In addition to her roles on MBC, Dana serves as the Chapter Breastfeeding Coordinator for the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has lectured extensively on breastfeeding locally and nationally. She is so honored to advocate for breastfeeding supports in Maryland and beyond.

Whitney N. Dula, CBS
Whitney is a native and current resident of Prince George’s County, MD. She currently owns The Mama’s Dula LLC, a lactation- focused postpartum care service based in Prince George’s County, MD; in addition to being a public health-based lactation consultant and health educator for the Babies Born Healthy Program, part of Montgomery County (MD) Department of Health and Human Services. She became a member of MBC in 2018 and quickly began assisting with outreach activities, eventually becoming a Member at Large and Coalition President. Whitney has presented and spoken at several local and national organizations, serves as a representative to the Unites States Breastfeeding Committee, and is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. where she hopes to expand their work in maternal child health.

Melanie Tarr, BS, IBCLC, RLC, CAHPE
Melanie Tarr, BS, IBCLC, RLC, CAHPE - Melanie is an Educator that specializes in working with parents. She is the CEO / IBCLC at the Successfully Nurtured Collective, where she has a passion for providing lactation, infant feeding, human development, and parenting consultations & classes on Delmarva. She volunteered with LLL of MD-DE-DC as an accredited leader from 2009-2023. She has been an active member of DE breastfeeding coalitions since 2009 and MDBFC since 2015, currently serving as Treasurer. Among many MBC activities, she works with the many sub committees and board initiatives in aspects of budget and funding sources. In addition to her roles in MBC, she advocates for our community to have equitable minority representation to collaboratively serve diverse populations. She is so grateful for the community support for breastfeeding that has been created for families over the last few decades, and looks forward to building more foundations through MDBFC for our future generations to be able to sustainably breastfeed their children.

Danya Benton
RN, IBCLC
Danya has been a Registered Nurse since 2006 and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2011. She has worked in Public Health since 2007 and was the previous Coordinator of the Upper Shore WIC program on the Eastern Shore. She had been a member of MBC since 2017 and a Board of Directors member since 2018. Danya is passionate about helping her clients reach their breastfeeding goals. She is also the proud parent of her adult (breastfed) son.
