I just want to share my experience as an RN working in this hospital (Washington Adventist). I had a baby 8 months ago and I wanted to breastfeed, but my greatest concern was what I am going to do when I return to work after my maternity leave. It was very helpful to have a great lactation lounge that provided privacy and a breast pump, along with a lactation nurse. Any time I approached her, she was helpful, such as with pumping instructions, or when I had concerns with lack of milk supply, and blocked ducts. I found the advice to be encouraging, and with support from my coworkers to cover me while I take my breaks to pump, my baby can drink my milk while I’m at work.
We are health professionals, moms, educators, policy-makers, organizations, businesses and others who promote, protect, and support breastfeeding. We have been assisting breastfeeding families and professionals since 2002. The Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition is a member coalition of the United States Breastfeeding Committee.
