In order to cultivate a community of diverse professional lactation supporters, the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition has funds for scholarships for people of color in our state. Last year MBC supported 4 people of color through the final requirement of IBCLC training and exam application. We are accepting applications for the second year of this successful program. The scholarship covers tuition for a 90-hour Lactation Consultant Training Program OR a Clinical Internship through Lactation Education Resources, plus payment of IBCLC exam fee and mentoring by an IBCLC-member of MBC. Please click here to read more about the scholarship, including eligibility and application.

Our goal to raise $2300, which covers the annual costs of two persons, has been met for this year and we welcome donations for expansion and continuation of the program. If you are a lactation consultant, and wish to donate in the name of someone who mentored you through your own training, please include their name and we will recognize them on as a “Mentor Champion” on our website.
